The app changes its whole color system for the light you're in. This page uses the same four palettes, so each button below switches the site the way it switches the app.
Day
For direct sun. A light ground and a deep ochre accent, because in glare only strong contrast stays readable.
Field
The default for dusk, overcast and indoors. A matte, dark ground with amber as the only bright color on screen.
Night
Red only. Your eyes take 20 to 30 minutes to adjust to the dark, and one white screen undoes it. Red light doesn't.
NVG
Green channel only, for use under night vision. Red falls inside the tube's sensitive band and blooms; green sits outside it.
NVG-usable, not NVIS-certified. Software can remove red light and keep the screen dim, but a phone display still leaks some near-infrared. For full compliance, add a NIR-filtering screen cover.
Before you step off
Plan on Wi-Fi. Navigate on GPS.
Your phone's GPS works without cell service. TenDigit makes sure the maps do too.
Save your area
At home, draw a box around where you're going and pick your basemaps. Property lines and imagery download with it.
Go out of range
Grids, maps, property lines and your track keep working with no signal. Switch to Night or NVG when the light goes.

Your position is never uploaded to us. It stays on your phone unless you share it with your team, and then it's end-to-end encrypted so only they can read it.
- Team chat
- Encrypted on your phone. It passes through a relay that only ever sees unreadable ciphertext.

- Requested from the map provider when you view or download an area, which shows them your IP address and the area.
- Elevation
- Crosshair elevation sends that point's coordinates to Open-Meteo to look up its height.

- Sent in the clear and signed, as amateur radio rules require.

Questions
Before you head out
Does it work with no cell signal?
Yes, for anything you saved. Your phone's GPS doesn't need cell service, so once an area is downloaded, maps, grids, property lines and tracks all work with zero bars. Team chat needs a data connection; radio chat doesn't.
What is a ten-digit grid?
An MGRS grid reference with five digits of easting and five of northing. Each extra pair of digits is ten times more precise: four digits pins a 1 km square, eight digits 10 m, and ten digits a single meter.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. Pro is handled by your Apple ID like any other App Store subscription.
Should I still carry a map and compass?
Yes. Batteries die, GPS can be wrong, and phones break. TenDigit is a navigation aid, not a replacement for training, a paper map and a compass.
Which iPhones does it run on?
Any iPhone running iOS 16 or later. NVG mode works best on iPhones with OLED screens, where a pure green pixel leaves the red emitter fully off.
How do I cancel Pro?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose TenDigit. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
